Congratulations to Gwenda Boniface, Palmers Green devotee, NLNL Committee Member among many other things

A proud moment that Palmers Green NC would like to share and shout about.

HUGE congratulations to our Club Secretary Gwenda Boniface for being awarded England Netball’s Muriel McNally Award. A bit of background: “Muriel McNally was an AENA member in Middlesex for many years before she retired to Cumbria. She was tragically killed in a car accident in 1977 and the Westminster Branch of the Townswomen’s Guild, of which she was also a long standing member, asked AENA (now England Netball) to accept a trophy in her memory. The recipient of this award must have given at least ten years’ service at club level in administration, coaching or umpiring.”

Most of us have either played with Gwenda, been coached by her or been given a damned good talking to by her. Maybe all three!

In any case, you won’t find anyone more committed to this club and there’s not enough space here to mention the work she’s done and continues to do for the club, for the NLNL, Middx County and Poly leagues and for the L & SE Region. When nominating her for this award we had to say briefly why she is outstanding:
• Gwenda’s commitment to the game of netball and those involved whether as a parent, player, umpire or administrator – is demonstrated by the sheer breadth of her involvement at Club, League and County levels over the years.
• Gwenda will always lend a hand with any administrative, social, coaching or officiating role asked of her. She is a team player whether on or off court.
• Gwenda really enjoys coaching young people – and this enjoyment is infectious. She is inspired by them and they by her. She really wants everyone to reach their own unique potential.
One young Club member recently described Gwenda as being ‘always enthusiastic and supportive, giving fair and encouraging advice. As a coach she is reassuring and welcoming to anyone who walks in to training.

Please all give her a hug or a thank you and a big pat on the back next time you see her. When you next pull on the blue dress and step on court, spare a thought for Gwenda and all other committee members who work hard behind the scenes to make it all happen. ‪#‎PGNC‬ ‪#‎Netball‬‪#‎ThisGirlCan‬
