Here is a message from the EN President, our own Lindsay Sartori:
As you can see there are still slots for next weekend. In particular early morning and late night slots. The teams and volunteers likely to be able to make these slots will need to live, work or be able to get into the City relatively easily.
There are also some gaps for independent volunteers to oversee what is going on for the Guinness book of records people. There will be lots of coffee etc available for anyone willing to cover the night owl sessions. You cannot be connected to any of the teams. Are there any ex netballers or umpires etc who would be interested in helping?
I shall be at the event over the weekend and so hopefully will see some of you there.
England Netball are in the midst of finalising arrangements for the 90th Anniversary Exhibition Tournament taking place at Play On Sports, 22 – 36 Raven Row, Whitechapel. The tournament starts at 00.01 on Friday 12 February and finishes at 19.01 on Monday 15 February 2016. The event is being televised locally by the BBC and ITV as in addition to attempting a World Record, we are also taking part in the BBC’s annual Sport Relief fundraising initiative.
In accordance with the rules laid down by the Guinness World Records, we have to play continuously for 90 hours to achieve a world record. We are still seeking clubs and teams to fill the following slots:
Friday 12 February
00.01 – 07.00
07.00 – 09.00 School U14 and U16 teams
Saturday 13 February
04.00 – 07.00
08.00 – 09.00 Back to Netball team
14.00 – 15.00 Club local team
Sunday 14 February
03.00 – 09.00
23.00 – 00.00
Monday 15 February
Between 00.01 – 04.00 Club Local team
04.00 – 07.00
12.00 – 13.00 Club regional team
We also need a few more independent witnesses; these must be people not associated with netball e.g. not netball partners and friends for both the Friday and Monday and more first aiders.
We are so very nearly there and just need a final push to ensure that we have sufficient numbers of clubs and volunteers taking part to make this event a huge success. Please can you help by registering a team or volunteering to help. If you have family or friends that are happy to assist, we need them too as independent witnesses.
Everyone involved in the event will receive a goody bag and badge commemorating the event on the day. If we are successful in achieving a world record, all participants and volunteers will receive a commemorative certificate after the event.
